THE INVISIBLE WOODPECKER
I heard it knock.
A rapid sound.
"Thu do dah, Thu do dah"
A melodious rich staccato, over and over.
It had to be a Woodpecker, I thought.
So I waited standing for five min.
No sound.
I sat down on a log, it immediately started again.
I stood up to see which of the 5 trees the Woodpecker could be in. The pecking stopped.
I moved under one of the five trees that it sounded close to. I sat down the pecking began again. I looked hard and long for the woodpecker. Nothing could be seen. I then did the same thing, to each of the 5 trees. The local Crows at the Park began to caw in agitation at my moving from one tree to another.
As I sat down at the 5th Tree, I noticed deep inside the trees branches above me, a really old looking Crow. It was balding and grey more than black. The head feathers were crested and spread in agitation. It seemed to be retching, the head convulsing up and down.
Then it came,
from the retching old Crow.
I heard the knocking rapid sound.
"Thu do dah, Thu do dah"
A melodious rich staccato,
over and over.
The Invisible Wood Pecker,
was an old retching Crow,
above me.
My Tonal ran screaming explanations.
My body was calm, relaxed, at ease.
Accepting that something different than what I knew of had just occurred.
A brush with the Nagual.
The next morning,
The Tonal returned,
explaining all Crows make the "Thu do dah, Thu do dah" sound.
Now,
alas,
for me,
the Crows always will.
...niantar...
